Bouquet

Bouquet is a different kind of carousel.

It’s romantic. It’s intimate. It’s still very thinkykinky.

It’s complexity blooming out of simplicity. Each track is a variant on the classic “Roses are Red” poem

Each variant then changes, developing into a different kind of poem entirely. It’s hopefully cute and charming; it also shows that there’s a whole bouquet of intimacy past what greeting card companies would have you believe.

Additional detail, cover art, and individual entry pages are available at the Bouquet Neuralpedia page.

1. My Trigger Is Red

My Trigger is Red is an ode to cognitive liberty – in a romantic context. It embraces voluntary mind modification as the necessary complement to that freedom. If we’re free to shape our minds how we want, that includes structures of devotion as well. This poem has a number of recurring devotional structures. It uses “trigger” – but not in any negative sense. In the Neuralverse, “trigger” just means a built voluntary association. It can be to a flower or a color. It can also be to a sound. The familiar “pop” sound of a champagne cork’s used here. The mind pop’s not a reduction; it’s a renewal. It’s a sign to bloom.

2. This Button Is Blue

This Button is Blue shows the places intimacy can flourish – even in data structures. People often construe warmth and technology as antonyms. That’s a choice; other choices exist. In “This Button is Blue”, there’s a coherent vision of programming as passion. The passion isn’t just for machines. It’s for people, voluntarily remade according to their own purpose. The poem opens with a red button. You’re in the right place; there’s just a playful effect on the famous Stroop Color and Word test here.

3. Angel Button

Angel Button is about a performer. It shows a larger theme, too. Intimacy and devotion can be structured and abstracted, but it always overgrows the trellis. It’s bigger than the way it’s cultivated. That’s on display here. A voice actor reads all the flowers in the bouquet, showing all the ways she can grow toward desirelight.

4. Twinflowers

Twinflowers is about the deep intimacy of a thinkykinky polyamorous dynamic. The two performers, Flux Lynniegal and Princess Ella, describe how they grow inside a chosen devotional structure. They reflect and refract each other. They make mirrors of thought patterns in ways that change them fundamentally. A twinflower mirror creates something new. Flat reflections are uniform and stultifying. Funhouse mirrors are just uncanny. Twinflower mirrors show ways in which partners can intentionally compose their selves and their change. They’re variations on a theme, and it’s beautiful. It grows from the Neural Nets and Pretty Patterns vision of the pando. Sometimes that’s dryad romance or audio drama. It’s a twinflower to that vision here; it’s different and the same at once.

6. Bruiseflower

Bruiseflower witnesses the real intimacy of thinkykinky dynamics, in a real way that’s better than 50 shades caricatures. The subject, Bliss Blank, chronicles her corrections. They continue as she recites. Each recital cycle’s more warm and intimate than the last. She’s a full participant in her own joyful sublimation.

7. Twolips

Twolips is a devotional poem about fixations that fix. Most fixations are bad. They’re intrusive and they supplant what we need and want to think. That’s not always the case, though. Hyperfixations can be a real part of being both human and devotional. A Twolips fixation doesn’t intrude. It comes in when it’s invited. It’s a psychic sage, really. Chosen hyperfixation can simplify a complex field to one single act. Mwah!

8. Forget Me Not

Forget Me Not is a fae monster romance poem. The speaker embodies the enchantment and entrancement built into fairy myths. She embodies, and she encourages her audience to embody as well. She’s inspired by fairy myth, with an organic angle suited for her bouquet placement. There’s always a dryad in the background of Neural Nets and Pretty Patterns romance. In Forget Me Not, you just have to look a little bit to see her bloom.
